Air India transported four baby anacondas, one of the rare species in the world, on board flight AI 274 from Colombo to Chennai, and then to Mumbai on AI 674 on Thursday.

The green-coloured baby anacondas (two male and two female) around 2 feet in length, were flown into Chennai from a Sri Lankan Zoo. en route to Mumbai. They were being carried by road to Kankaria Zoo in Ahmedabad, a release issued by the airline said.

The anacondas were carried in a specially packed container in compliance with IATA regulations.

Air India had carried a rare endangered female tomistoma crocodile from Ahmedabad to Chennai on April 16 last year, the release said.
