Chennai: National Agro Foundation, a charitable trust has helped about 200 students avail scholarships through the ‘Janashree Bheema Yojana’.

The Yojana is a scheme offered by Life Insurance Corporation of India and provides life and accident cover for members of self help groups.

It also offers scholarships for the beneficiaries’ wards studying in classes IX – XII.

Chief Executive Officer of the Trust R.I.Raghunathan disbursed Rs.1.52 lakh as scholarships to students in and around Madharpakkam village, Tiruvallur district, on Friday.

The trust conducts programmes to promote awareness about the scheme in Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts. According to a release, it has covered 186 self help groups and 1,673 members through its campaign.
