TUTICORIN: Members of BSNL Employees’ Union staged a demonstration here on Tuesday in protest against an order issued over disbursal of productivity-linked incentive (bonus) to the non- executive employees by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.

S. Paulraj Pattukumar, head of the Tuticorin unit of the union, who led the agitation, said that as per a memorandum of understanding signed between the Department of Telecom and BSNL administration, a minimum of Rs. 7, 000 should be given as bonus to the non-executive employees.

But much to the employees’ dismay, the administration had issued an order to give only Rs. 3, 500 based on performance.

About 75 members, including 10 women, participated in the agitation.
