DINDIGUL: A five-day folk music and dance festival will commence on Saturday in five towns in the district.
Three hundred artistes, including 70 from neighbouring States like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, will take part. Equal importance had been given for district-level artistes also, said Collector M. Vallalar.
Talking to press persons here on Friday, he said eight teams of artistes in the district would perform various folk art forms. The festival will be simultaneously held in Dindigul, Vedasandur, Palani, Oddanchatram and Nilakottai. The programmes will start around 6 p.m. and end at 8.15 p.m. All the three hundred artistes will congregate in Kodaikanal on December 30, last day of the show at Bryant Park. The Tamil Nadu Tourism Department and district administration had jointly organised this show, he added.
