Plus Two examination began in Thanjavur district on Thursday with a total of 25,343 students appearing for it.

Collector K.Baskaran inspected the examination centre at Rajah's Higher Secondary School in the town. Later, he told presspersons that generators have been arranged at all the 66 centres in the revenue district.

Flying squads have been formed to check malpractices. While 7,322 students are appearing for the Plus Two examination in Thanjavur education district, 9,316 students are appearing in Kumbakonam education district, and 8,705 in Pattukottai education district.


Collector S.Natarajan inspected examination centres at Va.So.Boys Higher Secondary School and G.R.M.Girls Higher Secondary school in the town. About 12,802 students are writing the examination at 49 examination centres.


Over 16,307 students wrote the exam on Thursday with all centres provided with generators. Eleven flying squads were pressed into service on day one. Random inspections were carried out under Collector T.Munusamy in select centres. Exam is being conducted at 44 centres in Nagapattinam and Mayiladuthurai education district.


A total of 7,602 students appeared for the exam at 21 centres in the district. Collector Anu George visited the centre at Tirumanur panchayat union higher secondary school. Flying squads comprising 44 officials and staff visited various centres. Private candidates wrote the exam at CSI HSS, Ariyalur, and Fatima Girls HSS, Jayamkondam.


Over 1,923 students from 16 schools appeared for the exam at six centres in the district. Besides, over 296 private candidates sat for the exam. Inspections were carried out by a four-member flying squad. A team led by Collector J.Ashok Kumar also conducted random inspections.


The district administration has declared a local holiday on March 12 in view of the car festival at Sri Muthumariamman temple at Tiruvappur near here. However, the Plus Two public examination scheduled for that day would be conducted as planned, according to an official press release issued here on Wednesday. The examination for the first paper of English subject would be held that day, the release added.
