Farmers who produced high-yielding and rare crop varieties were honoured and winners of various competitions were given prizes at the valedictory function of the two-day flower show at Bryant Park here on Monday.

According to Deputy Director of Health Services S.Raja Mohammad, nearly 50,000 tourists visited the park during the show, bringing in a revenue of Rs.11.35 lakh to the park administration.

A sum of Rs.7.32 lakh was collected as entrance fee on the first day, while it was Rs.4.03 lakh on the second day. The park was filled with tourists during lunch and evening hours with special cultural programmes by folk artistes, traditional dancers and musicians encouraging visitors to prolong their stay. The sports events organised at Munjikkal on Monday morning too attracted a sizable crowd.

More than 600 prizes were distributed to winners. Competitions were also held for food products such as fruits, vegetables and spices.
