Artificial fountains will be installed
SALEM: The beautification of the traffic island on Five Roads, an important road junction witnessing thousands of vehicles every day, is nearing completion.
The work was taken up by the Salem City Police with the public participation as a part of the efforts to improve the traffic management system and beautify the traffic islands.
Artificial fountains and coloured lamps would be installed in the traffic island to give it a pleasant look. Shrub and flowerbeds would also be created.
A high mast lamp was already installed and steps were being taken to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the junction.
The city police would take up efforts to improve the traffic management and ensure safe travel to the people, a senior police official said.
Traffic islands in other parts of the city would also be improved with the participation of the public, he said.
