The Anti-Land Grab Cell of the Salem Rural Police on Friday arrested five persons on the charge of cheating a woman and selling her land to others.

Rajammal (62) of Omalur purchased 70 cents from Kamalesh (67) in 2001. Later, she came to know that Kamalesh had forged documents and sold 3,802 sq ft of the land to Chandran (45) and Kamala (43). Based on her complaint, the police registered a case under Section 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and arrested Kamalesh, Chandran, Kamala, Murugesan (34) and Murugavalli (35).
