Five students of a matriculation higher secondary school at Valliyoor sustained injuries when a wall in the school toilet collapsed.

School sources said a wall at the entrance of the toilet of Keins Matriculation Higher Secondary School collapsed during lunch hours when the students entering the lavatory pushed it casually. S. Al Malick (12), a 7th standard student from Singampaththu near Kallakad, J. John Lingadurai (17), a Plus Two student from Valliyoor, S.M. Mohideen Abdul Khader (17), a Plus Two student from Ervadi, and S. Navin (12), a 7th standard student, suffered injuries.

Another unidentified student, son of a Valliyoor-based advocate, was injured.

While Khader and Navin were admitted to a private hospital with suspected fracture, Malick and Lingadurai were treated as outpatients.

Bad quality

“Poor quality of construction is the reason behind the wall collapse,” said a parent who had come to take his children.

When a TV reporter was taking shots of the school, he was abused and threatened of dire consequences by a group of persons who came out of the school. The gang tried to snatch the camera, but the reporter resisted.
