A project taken up under Tsunami Rehabilitation Programme
A fish landing centre being established at Threspuram here is nearing completion stage. Collector Ashish Kumar and a team of officials from the Department of Fisheries took stock of the work progress on Sunday.
Work on the fish landing centre were taken up at a cost of Rs.7.03 crore under Tsunami Rehabilitation Programme in August, 2011. After inspection, the Collector appealed to the officials to expedite the work. He also said that a sanitary complex constructed at Threspuram should be put into use. Demands for establishing a ramp at Threspuram for attending to repairs in boats and provision of drinking water supply were placed to the Collector who directed the officials to initiate works.
Revenue officials must transfer lands at the earliest for setting up an extended wharf of 630-metres along Threspuram north coast, he said.
The wharf would be set up at an estimated cost of Rs.16.36 crore under National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) scheme. Works would be taken up soon.
