CHENNAI: The first stage of the National Knowledge Network, meant to connect all knowledge institutions in various fields and at various locations throughout the country, will be inaugurated soon, Sujatha Ramadorai, member, National Knowledge Commission, said on Friday.

The network is the brainchild of the Commission, which was constituted in June 2005 by the Central government to prepare a blueprint for reforming knowledge-related institutions and infrastructure.

Ms. Ramadorai was speaking at a programme to spread awareness of the National Knowledge Commission organised here by the Tamil Nadu Federation of Voluntary Agencies.

The infrastructure for the network was ready, she said. “The nuts and bolts are already in place.”
