Police have registered the first land grab case in Thanjavur district and arrested two out of the three accused.

Anil Kumar Giri, Superintendent of police, Thanjavur, told presspersons here on Wednesday that based on a complaint from Mary Jenita, wife of Adaikkaladoss, of Indira Nagar, Bangalore, a land grab case has been registered against M.Thiygarajan alias Pappi Thiyagarajan, son of Mani Thanjirayar, East Gate, Thanjavur, V.Govindarajan, son of Vellaisamy, Maharnombuchavadi, Thanjavur, and Leo Charles, son of A.S.Thanasamy, Mappilainayakkanpatti, Thanjavur.

The three accused were alleged to have created a fake sale deed to usurp about 3.44 acres of the complainant's property at Thanjavur Puliyanthoppu. Of the three accused Govindarajan and Leo Charles have been arrested on Wednesday and sent to judicial custody.

Thiyagarajan is absconding. A separate squad has been formed to nab him.
