: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Police on Friday arrested Divisional Fire Officer of Nagercoil Selvaraja while allegedly taking bribe.
DVAC sources said Arockiya Raj of Chennai, who used to fit fire-fighting systems in new buildings, approached Selvaraja for obtaining the mandatory ‘no-objection certificate’ from him. As Selvaraja allegedly demanded Rs.30,000 for issuing the certificate, Mr. Arockiya Raj filed a complaint with the DVAC wing.
When Selvaraja accepted the money from Mr. Arockiya Raj on Friday afternoon, DVAC DSP Sundararajan and team caught him red-handed. Further investigation is on.
