A financier who was allegedly charging exorbitant interest rates was arrested by the Fraud and Misappropriation Squad officials of Central Crime Branch (CCB) here on Tuesday.

The CCB police identified the financier as Rohit Ganesh alias Ganesh Samappa (32), a resident of 18 {+t} {+h} Main, 4 {+t} {+h} Sector, HSR Layout.

The police raided his firm, S.S. Enterprises, and arrested him.

“Ganesh used to lend money, levying an interest of 20 per cent per month,” a CCB official told The Hindu.

Ganesh, whose business was estimated at Rs. 5 crore, also used to confiscate defaulters' property documents.

The police seized an air gun and 50 documents, including blank cheques of different banks and promissory notes, besides a car from him.
