VELLORE: Vellore Collector C. Rajendran disbursed cheques worth Rs.18.20 lakhs to 160 beneficiaries at the weekly grievances redressal day meeting here on Monday.

The aid comprised accident relief of Rs.1,02,500 each to nine persons, Rs.5000 each to seven persons, and funeral expenses of Rs.12,500 each to eight persons under the social protection scheme, and Rs.20,000 each to seven inter-caste couples under the marriage assistance scheme for inter-caste couples. The Collector also distributed house site pattas worth Rs.6.20 lakhs to 136 persons belonging to the backward classes residing in Ambur. The Collector received 622 petitions related to house site pattas, land pattas, employment assistance, old age pension, patta transfers, marriage assistance and family cards.

Saravanavelraj, Assistant Director of Mining and Geology Ayyadurai, Special Deputy Collector (Social Protection Scheme) Gunasekaran, Vellore RDO Geetha, District Backward Classes Welfare Officer Srinivasan, District Differently-Abled Rehabilitation Officer Vijayashankar, GM of the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO) Ramakrishnan and District Information and PRO M. Vijayakumar participated in the meeting.
