Financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 6.64 lakh was distributed to 74 poor children, including 38 girls, here on Thursday.

The Virudhunagar unit of World Vision of India identifies poor children and extends financial support in order to prevent them from becoming a child labour or school dropouts.

In September, it had identified 14 children in Soolakarai area, 26 in Mettukundu area and 34 in Paavali area.

It extended financial assistance of Rs. 6,44,300 to these children to pursue their education and Collector T.N. Hariharan distributed the sum on Thursday.
