Producer K.C.N. Gowda gets `Life Time Achievement' award

CHENNAI: The Film Fans' Association on Saturday honoured several artistes and technicians in recognition of their success in film, television industries.

Film producers Appachan and M.Balasubramanian were honoured with the tongue `Outstanding contribution to filmdom' award while producer K.C.N.Gowda received the `Life Time Achievement' award.

The Film Fans' Association was founded in the year 1948 in Chennai. Box office hits such as `Chandramukhi' and `Anniyan' bagged many of the 'Cine bests of 2005' awards in the Tamil category. This year marked the 55 th annual awards for films and the 6th annual awards for television serials. Television actors Abhishek and Ajay were honoured for their roles in 'Kolangal', while actors Saravana, Kamalesh, Manjari and Latha Rao were among awardees. Awards were given in other categories including Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema.

Though the list of awardees featured some of the biggies of the industry such as Vikram, Jyothika, Vijay, lyricist Vaali, Harris Jayaraj, none of them were to be seen at the award ceremony. Cinematographer Ravivarman was awarded for his work in 'Anniyan'.

Producer A.V.M. Saravanan, president of the Association Justice S.Jagadeesan, general secretary of Film Federation of India 'Abirami' Ramanathan were among those present.
