CHENNAI: This year’s The Hindu-Education Plus FIITJEE Talent Support examination will be held on October 19 at 36 centres across the country.

In Kerala, it will be held in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. In Tamil Nadu, the centres are Chennai, Neyveli and Tiruchi.

Launched in 2006, the talent support examination attracts about 15,000 aspirants to take up an all-India assessment to get an idea of where they will stand in the IIT-JEE rankings for the coming academic year.

It will also help them understand their weaknesses and build on their strengths to consolidate their preparations for the entrance examination at the national level.

Three papers

The examination will have three papers (on the entire JEE syllabi) – one subjective and two objective type papers to test the students’ knowledge of the subjects.

The last date for registration will be October 16 and the registration fee is Rs.200 but there will be no fee for students already enrolled with any FIITJEE programme for IIT-JEE 2009. Promoting such talent search activities comes under The Hindu’s overall NIE initiative.

Students securing a rank in the top 300 in this examination will get a certificate of achievement and win an online doubt removal support programme to help them prepare for the IIT-JEE.

Cash scholarships and fee waivers are also on offer, according to a FIITJEE release. For more information, students can log on to www.fiitjee.com/ftse.htm or for online registration, visit www.fiitjeeonline.in
