THANJAVUR: Traders and Viswakarma artisans from various parts of Thanjavur district observed a day’s fast here on Monday demanding withdrawal of online trading of precious metals and essential commodities which had resulted in a steep rise in the prices of all commodities.

D. Pandian, State secretary of the CPI, who addressed the fasting members, said that online trading of commodities had affected common people and the prices of all commodities soared beyond the reach of common man.
