Farmers to hoist

black flags

Tamizhaga Vivasayeegal Sangam – a farmers’ association not attached to any party – has decided to hoist black flags atop wilted coconut and palm trees to register their protest against the Tamil Nadu Government for not providing adequate compensation.

The resolution said that the farmers would hoist the flags on Sunday at a farm in Aalampalayam near Avinashi to draw the attention of the Government that had not compensated the farmers for the wilted crops and also for trees that came under pest attack.

If the Government continued to ignore the farmers, they would be forced to extend the black flag agitation to the entire State. The farmers would also picket district collectorates.
