The rally, which began at the Denkanikottai taluk office, passed through important thoroughfares and concluded on the market ground. Thally MLA T. Ramachandran flagged off the rally.

Later, addressing the gathering, Mr. Ramachandran asked the Government to issue pattas for poramboke lands, which were cultivated by farmers for successive generations.

Pattas should be distributed to all eligible farmers in Hosur and Denkanikottai taluks exempting the Government order issued by the then DMK Government in 1989.

The Government had declared farmlands located on the fringes of forests as forest lands earlier. The MLA urged the Government to issue pattas to these lands.

Mr. Ramachandran appealed to the Government to erect solar fencing for the farmlands abetting forest area to prevent the entry of wild animals. The Government disbursed compensation to 80 farmers who had suffered extensive crop damage due to straying of wild animals. He demanded that the Government provide adequate compensation to all the affected farmers.

The long-pending Hogenakkal Comprehensive Water Supply Scheme should be implemented quickly to solve the acute drinking water scarcity in Dharmapuri and Krishnangiri districts.
