ERODE: Tamizhaga Vivasayeegal Sangam farmers have opposed the demand for ban on cotton export.
In a release, district president E.R. Kumarasamy says the farmers are opposed to the demand and also condemn organisations that demand the same.
The very same persons are also demanding implementation of the project to sea discharge effluents, to which too the farmers are opposed.
Both the demands will spell doom for farmers and agriculture, the traditional occupation in Kongu region.
Mr. Kumarasamy says the textile processing industry’s demand should not be heeded to because River Noyyal has already been destroyed and instead court orders on zero discharge of effluents should be effectively implemented.
