DHARMAPURI: The Dharmapuri police busted a fake liquor gang on Wednesday. About 700 fake liquor bottles of leading brands, a sealing machine, 50 empty bottles and 28 litres of rectified spirit were seized from them.

R. Sudhakar, Superintendent of Police, told reporters that on the basis of a tip-off, police personnel from Prohibition Enforcement Wing conducted a vehicle search at the Kumbaraalli Pirivu Salai on the Dharmapuri-Krishnagiri National Highway.

They intercepted a four-wheeler and a two-wheeler during check.

On checking the vehicles, they found the fake liquor and other materials.

A. Marimuthu, A. Mehendran and C. Marimuthu from Beemanur near Kaveripattinam in Krishnagiri district, C. Raman and R. Dhanam from Kuttapatti near Kaveripattinam, K. Jagadeesan from Vadamangalam near Barur in Krishnagiri and P. Arumugam from Erankattukottai near Harur in Dharmapuri district were arrested.

The Prohibition Enforcement Wing of the Harur police have registered a case and are investigating into the seizure.
