Thanjavur paintings occupy an important place in the field of arts. Unique to Thanjavur, they depict gods and goddesses in the Hindu pantheon beautifully.
Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation (Poompuhar) has organised a sales exhibition of Thanjavur paintings at its showroom on the Gandhiji road. Paintings of Meenakshi, lord Siva with parvathi on Rishapa Vahana, Panchamukha vinayagar, Pattabisheka Ramar, Gajalakshmi, Vennaithazhi Krishnan, Meenakshi Sundareswarar Thirukalyanam, Venkatachalapathi, and Saraswathi are on display. Cost of the paintings varies from Rs.1.700 to Rs.75,000. Ten per cent discount is offered. The exhibition is open till December 15 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
