CHENNAI: Officials belonging to the Public Health Department of the Chennai Corporation on Friday seized and destroyed 1,300 kg of food products such as cake, butter, meat, noodles and flour that were being sold beyond their shelf life.

A release said that the raids were conducted across the city for the second consecutive day.

On Friday, departmental stores and godowns in localities, including Triplicane, Vadapalani, Chepauk and Thousand Lights, were raided.
