: Condemning the inordinate delay in implementing the Sethu Canal project, cadres of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) took out a protest rally here on Monday evening. Spearheading the rally, participated by CITU state general secretary A. Soundararajan and many other cadres, S. Muthu Kannan, state president, DYFI, stressed the need for implementing the dream project at the earliest.

The project would certainly generate employment opportunities and job aspirants could well achieve their goal. The rally, which was flagged off by K. Kanagaraj, State Executive Council Member of CPI (M) at Anna Nagar, ended up at Bryant Nagar, where a public meeting was staged later.

R. Velmurugan, State Secretary, S. Bala, State Treasurer and others were present.

The programme was attended by youths from various districts, including Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari.
