Tuticorin: The development works taken up under various government-sponsored schemes in the district during the current financial year were reviewed by T. V. Somanathan, Secretary, Departments of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Government of Tamil Nadu, here on Wednesday.

He called upon the officials concerned to expedite the implementation of infrastructure development projects to help the public avail its benefits at the earliest.

The Collector, R Palaniyandi, briefed Mr. Somanathan on the seed multiplication programmes and integrated development programmes for different crops, taken up in the district, to enhance food security.

Schemes mooted by departments of rural development, animal husbandry, highways, municipal administration, backward classes and revenue, came up for discussion.

The Project Director of Mahilar Thittam, M Madasamy, the Joint Director of Agriculture, M Mohanados, and senior officials of various departments attended the meeting.
