AIADMK stages demonstration in Salem, Namakkal
SALEM: Cadres of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here on Friday demanding the State Government to speed up the issuance of new family cards to all the eligible applicants.
They alleged that the inordinate delay in issuing the cards had affected a large number of people.
They also wanted the Government to streamline the distribution of kerosene and wheat under the Public Distribution System. They claimed that the supply of kerosene and wheat in many parts of the district was erratic. Fair price shops in a few parts were not supplying wheat to the cardholders, they charged.
They also urged the district administration to ensure the adequate supply of liquefied petroleum gas cylinders. The consumers should be given a cylinder at least 20 days once. Senior party leaders participated in the demonstration. In Namakkal district, a similar demonstration was held in front of the taluk office with the participation of large number of cadres.
