Rural development works should be executed on time without any delay, said B. Maheswari, Collector. She instructed officials during an inspecting of on-going schemes in and around Mazhaiyur near Karambakudi on Wednesday, the Collector said that the works should be executed within the stipulated time.

Accompanied by officials, the Collector inspected the integrated sanitary complex renovated at Mazhaiyur and Ponnanviduthi. She also inspected the fair price shops and the primary health centres.

The Collector inspected the work being executed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme; a road work being executed at an outlay of Rs.3 lakh under the NABARD-assisted scheme linking Maravanpatti and Nainarkollai.

She also inspected the construction of a fair price shop at an expenditure of Rs. 2.57 lakh at Kottaikadu sanctioned under the MLA constituency development fund. Later, the Collector inspected the NABARD-sponsored work on laying a road linking Tirumananjeri and Karukkakurichi at an outlay of Rs. 29.40 lakh.
