Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Secretary tours Nagapattinam district

NAGAPATTINAM: Ashok Vardhan Shetty, Secretary to Government, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, instructed officials to complete all development works within the stipulated time.

Mr. Shetty reviewed various development works, including those taken up under the Tamil Nadu Rural Employment Guarantee (TNREG) scheme and All Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam herre on Friday. Tenkasi S. Jawahar, Collector, and officials accompanied him.

He questioned some officials for not implementing water supply works in some places.

He also inspected the work to dig a tank at Vadakku Poigainallur under the TNREG, solar fish dryer unit at Akkaraipettai, construction of permanent houses by the People's Development Association, a non-governmental organisation, at Serudur near Velankanni.

Later, Mr. Shetty visited Vedaranyam and Thalainayar areas and inspected road works and desilting of irrigation channels.

He also interacted with villagers about the implementation of various rural development works in their areas.
