Similar expos to be held every three months

MADURAI: With the objective of promoting women entrepreneurs who make products at their homes and to give them a platform to display their products, a two-day exhibition was held here on Saturday and Sunday.

Organised by Karangal Small Scale Development Society, a recently-formed Madurai-based organisation, its motto is give market exposure to people doing business in small scale from their homes.

According to S.V. Raani, Coordinator of the Society, this was first of their expos being organised by the society. Such expos would be held once in three months and it would help women entrepreneurs develop contacts and their business.

The expo held at Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) Hall featured around 30 stalls exhibiting various products such as dolls, jute bags, bed sheets, saris and snacks. Further retail sales of 1 gram jewelleries were also done, she said. Saris having embroidery work were also kept on display.

As the response to the expo had been good, many of the entrepreneurs had agreed to come back the next expo also, said Ms. Raani.
