Free consultations with experts and access to free drugs arranged

CHENNAI: A national exhibition, Arogya 2010, showcasing various Indian systems of medicine, will be held at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, from May 27 to 30.

The seminar is being jointly organised by the Centre's Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH), and the State's Department of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy, according to Health Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam.

Government departments, including TAMPCOL, Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society, National Rural Health Mission, State Medicinal Plants Board, Department of Horticulture, and representatives of various ISM departments, will set up 14 stalls showcasing aspects of the ISM at the venue.

Twenty-four stalls have been allotted to private sector. During the exhibition, the public will be able to have free consultations with experts and also access to free drugs. Lectures on lifestyle disorders, stress, geriatric care, mother and child health, food and nutrition, hypertension will also be featured during the four-day show.

Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan is expected to inaugurate the conference on Thursday. Union Minister of State for Health S. Gandhiselvan will address the gathering, Mr. Panneerselvam said.
