Handloom and hadicarfts expo throws yet another chance to update one's wardrobe
MADURAI: Here comes yet another opportunity for Madurai residents, especially cotton lovers, to update their wardrobe. A wide range of summer cotton handloom ware and handicrafts, which are trendy and innate with a native touch, are displayed at the Summer Cotton Handloom and Handicrafts Exhibition at Vijay Mahal, KK Nagar.
Craftsmen from 12 States, including Rajasthan, Kashmir, Orissa and Gujarat, have assembled under one roof to display what people in their State made with a deftness of hands.
The items on display are Rajasthan bed sheets, door curtains, household linen, saris, readymade tops, skirts, salwar suits and nighties, T-shirts, pants, export surplus branded shirts, Bermudas, Jaipur tops and kurta, khadi kurta, Rajasthan gagra choli, Jaipur bangles, terracotta handicrafts from Orissa, Mangalagiri saris from Andhra, dress materials, kalamkari dress materials and kids wear.
Under the `one-gram gold jewellery' section, items from Hyderabad and Jaipur are sure to draw women. The organisers offer a 10 per cent discount on handicraft items and 20 per cent on handloom items.
The exhibition will remain open from 9.30 a.m. to 9. 30 p.m. till April 25.
