Over 100 horses will participate in a number of competitions
The annual South India Equestrian Championship (2013) started on Friday with the Clear Round and the 90 cm jumping.
During the three days of the competition — on Friday, Saturday and Sunday there will be a number of competitions, featuring over 250 competitors with varying levels of horsemanship starting with children riders, right up to professionals.
Over 100 horses from across South India have come to Puducherry to participate in the event at the Red Earth Riding School in Auroville.
Saturday’s events will start with the 120 cm jumping and the Dressage Test Canter in the morning. In the afternoon will be the relay jumping, 60 cm jumping, novice dressage and pony gymkhana.
On Sunday, which is the final day of events, there will be the Dressage Test Trot and the 105 cm jumping in the morning. In the afternoon will be the Freestyle Dressage and the Derby, which will be followed by the Casablanca Fashion Show in the evening, the release said.
The morning’s events will take place from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., while the afternoon’s proceedings will start at 4 p.m.
