More than 270 Ph.D. aspirants from various parts attended it

Karaikudi: The Alagappa University conducted an entrance test for short-listing the candidates for the Alagappa University Research Fellowship. More than 270 Ph.D. aspirants from various parts of the country attended.

P. Kanniappan, Vice-Chancellor, said the main objective of the fellowship was to extend financial support to deserving research scholars to carry out full-time research work leading to the Ph.D. degree in various departments.

The duration of the award of fellowship would be two years for M.Phil. degree holders and three years for postgraduate degree holders.

The university would select one candidate for each department.

The selected candidates would be paid a sum of Rs.5,000 a month as stipend for a period of three years.

In addition, a consolidated contingent amount of Rs.5,000 would be paid after the submission of the synopsis to prepare and submit the thesis with reference to actual expenditure supported by vouchers to be submitted by research scholars, the VC added.
