Employees of noon meal scheme should exercise caution and responsibility in preparing meals and serving them , said Food Minister R.Kamaraj. Hygiene should be ensured at every stage, right from storage of commodities to serving of meals, besides clearing of waste he said while speaking at a consultative meeting of the noon meal centre organisers, cooks, assistant cooks, panchayat secretaries, and anganwadi workers at Channanallur near Nannilam on Wednesday.

Explaining the objective of the scheme, the Minister said that it had helped provide educational opportunities to thousands of boys and girls. Cooks, assistant cooks and organisers should adhere to personal hygiene. The noon meal centres and stock rooms should be cleaned periodically.
