Encroachments such as haphazard parking of vehicles, mechanic shops, petty shops and construction materials would be removed on all approach roads to National Highways, said Collector K Maharabushanam.

Presiding over the Traffic Committee meeting here on Wednesday, the Collector said that the choking of approach roads and service roads on National Highways bye-pass in the city had led to many accidents and henceforth the officials from National Highways Authority of India with assistance from Police would remove all such encroachments.

“This will come into effect from tomorrow,” the Collector said.

He further pointed out that City Police would undertake a sustained drive against the vehicles that were parked in front of mega shopping malls and complexes obstructing the free flow of traffic in many important artillery roads such as Sri Saradha College Road. “The illegal parking on the road is banned and vehicles would be removed from the spot,” he warned.
