Collector C. Samayamoorthy inspected special camps for summary revision of electoral roll conducted at various places in the district on Sunday.
As the draft electoral roll was released recently, it was placed in the offices of Revenue Divisional Officer, tahsildar, Tirunelveli Corporation’s Palayamkottai, Melapalayam, Tirunelveli and Melapalayam Zones.
To enable the electorate to make corrections in the voters’ list like addition, deletion, change of address etc., special camps are being conducted across the district on October 6, 20 and 27 to receive applications from the eligible voters.
When the first special camp of this series was conducted on Sunday, Mr. Samayamoorthy inspected the camps at St. John’s Higher Secondary School, Palayamkottai and at Sarah Tucker Branch Middle School at Sindhupoondurai in Tirunelveli Junction.
Special camps were organised for voters to make changes in the voters list here on Sunday.
Eligible voters turned up at booths for addition and deletion of names and change of address.
People, who turn 18 years of age on January 1, 2014, could also obtain application forms to enrol in the list.
Special camps have been scheduled on October 6, 20 and 27 in a total of 1,413 booths set up across Tuticorin district. The booths were established at 812 locations in various parts of the district. Tuticorin district comprising Tuticorin, Tiruchendur, Kovilpatti, Srivaikuntam, Vilathikulam and Ottapidaram assembly consistencies has a total electorate of 12, 6,350.
As for the draft roll released here on October 1, 2013, the total electorate includes 6,00,234 men; 6, 06,115 women and others 1. Eligible voters could access www.election.tn.gov.in for details.
