A person was trampled to death by an elephant on Sunday at the Booluvampatti Reserve Forest in the district.

According to C. Dinesh Kumar, Range Officer, Booluvampatti, the person, aged around 50, was suspected to be mentally challenged and was found wandering near the settlements of tribal population at Moolankadu.

He had reportedly wandered around 150 m inside the reserve forest when he had encountered a wild elephant, which had trampled him to death. His identity was yet to be ascertained.
