Final rolls to be released on January 5

Releasing the draft photo electoral rolls, Collector M.Karunagaran on Monday formally launched the work for the roll revision with 1.1.2013 as the qualifying date for inclusion of names in the rolls.

As per the rolls released on October 1, the district has 22,95,864 voters of which 11,55,284 are men and 11,40,580 women voters.

Mettupalayam has 2,33,684 voters including 1,16,873 men and 1,16,811 women; Sulur - 2,37,696 voters (1,19,873 men and 1,17,823 women); Kavundampalayam - 3,18,846 voters (1,61,813 men and 1,57,033 women); Coimbatore North - 2,35,011 voters (1,19,530 men and 1,15,481 women); Thondamuthur - 2,34,290 voters (1,18,277 men and 1,16,013 women); Coimbatore South - 2,08,086 voters (1,04,652 men and 1,03,434 women); Singanallur - 2,43,033 voters (1,22,841 men and 1,14,872 women); Kinathukkadavu - 2,30,160 voters (1,15,288 men and 1,14,872 women); Pollachi - 1,85,958 voters (92,543 men and 93,415 women) and Valparai has 1,69,100 voters of which 83,594 are men and 85,506 women.

The Collector said that as per the draft rolls, voters who were turning 18 as on January 1, 2013 could submit their forms seeking inclusion of names. Similarly, those already having their names in electoral rolls could submit forms seeking changes, address change and deletion of names. The application forms for the above should be submitted during the period October 1 to 31, 2012 on all working days. Forms could be submitted to the electoral roll related officials at the polling stations, electoral roll registration officers and Assistant Electoral Roll Registration Officers from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

After initiating suitable action on such applications, the final electoral rolls would be released on January 5.

The draft photo electoral rolls released by Collector (in-charge) R. Gajalakshmi on Monday has 17,41,822 electors (8,86,867 men, 8,54,933 women and others-22) in the district, an increase of 1,164 voters from the last rolls published on January 5 this year.

The total figures include the service electors numbering 307 (215 men and 92 women).

According to the new rolls, Palladam Assembly constituency has the maximum electorate of 2,56,924 and Madathukulam segment the least with 1,89,485 voters among all the eight Assembly constituencies in the district.

Following is the number of voters in the other Assembly constituencies in the district: Dharapuram - 2,17,264; Kangayam - 2,05,395; Avinashi - 2,15,920, Tirupur North - 2,50,637; Tirupur South - 1,92,026 and Udumalpet - 2,14,171.

Official sources said that the rolls were displayed at all the 1,979 polling booths for public to view it.

People who wished to include their names in the rolls during the summary revision, which commenced on Monday itself, could do it by furnishing the personal details in Form 6 till the month end.

Electors should use Form 8 for making corrections and Form 8 A for transposition of entries within an Assembly segment. The deletion of names, of those who died and ones who moved out of the constituencies, could be carried out by submitting the details in Form 7.
