Students join cleanliness campaign by railway in Tiruchi

TIRUCHI: The divisional railway authorities conducted a cleanliness campaign involving school students at Tiruchi Junction on Wednesday.

The authorities sought the cooperation of the passengers in helping the railway administration to maintain the station premises and trains clean.

The Divisional Railway Manager R.C. Jat who inaugurated the campaign distributed pamphlets listing the ‘dos and donts’ on cleanliness to passengers of the Chennai-bound Vaigai Express at the Junction.

Being the ‘Year of Cleanliness,’ the railway authorities had been conducting such awareness campaigns in various stations in the division to keep the surroundings clean, Mr. Jat said.

Students of the railway mixed school and members of the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade of Southern Railway took out a rally carrying placards containing messages on cleanliness inside the station.

The Chief Medical Superintendent, Southern Railway Hospital, Ponmalai Kasthuri Bai Jeyaraj and senior officials participated in the campaign.
