Use primary education to plan career development: official

CHENNAI: Students and teachers of Sri Sayee Vivekananda Matriculation School, Kodungaiyur, organised an educational talent show at the institution last week.

School Education Secretary M. Kutralingam noted that students should use primary education to plan their career development

At the same time, he said parents and teachers played a key role in shaping their children's careers.

V. Srinivasan, General manager, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, Chennai, said Tamil Nadu was proving its strength in the field of education as many students from the north and the northeast preferred engineering colleges here.

"Corporates should come forward to fulfil the needs of educational institutions like Sayee Vivekananda Vidyalaya. The CPCL has assisted many educational institutions in the current financial year," Mr. Srinivasan added.

School correspondent T.S. Thiyagarajan thanked the parents for imposing faith in the institution.

The school would be upgraded to higher secondary level from 2007-08 (next education year).

A. John Britto, principal, presented the annual report.

The students presented a cultural show, one of the main themes being the need for creating a movement against felling of trees.
