Activities stressing importance of humour highlighted
TIRUCHI: If you have been the one to adore people who keep groups in raptures with their humour, the NIE session on ‘Humour’ is for you.
A module under ‘Skill Enhancing Game – Social,’ the session is all about easy ways to tickle the funny bones of your friends. At Cauvery Matriculation Higher Secondary School, resource person Helan Hema came up with a couple of activities to drive home the importance of humour in social situations. Ms. Hema donned the role of a witch to spell a curse on the class VII students. “Imagine I’ve made you forget your vocabulary. But I’ll leave you with four words of your choice,” she said.
Teams consisting 10 students in each were formed. A student representative from each group jotted down four words, handing it over to Ms. Hema. While one group was asked to act out the words, the other groups’ representatives used the four words to express their frame of minds. The activities stressed the importance of right words to express humour.
Five more volunteers were called randomly to share jokes with their classmates. “Humour is a great tool for team building. Jokes and healthy humour act as ice-breakers at any gathering. Laughter can light up the day of you and people around you.” She urged students to learn the difference between bad and healthy humour.
The mantra behind healthy humour is to have fun but hurt none, she told the students.
