Early trends likely at 8.30 a.m.

Voters will be able to get early leads of at least eight constituencies in the Puducherry region and about seven constituencies spread across the Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam regions by 8. 30 a.m. on Friday.

The public can log on to www.pon.nic.in and click on the Elections Department link to know the results. The Elections Department will be providing live update on its website, Collector-cum-District Election Officer G. Ragesh Chandra told The Hindu.

The first eight constituencies in Puducherry that would be taken up for simultaneous counting are Mannadipet, Mangalam, Kadirgamam, Kamaraj Nagar, Lawspet, Ouppalam, Nellithope and Embalom. Poll officers said early trends of these constituencies would start coming in by 8.30 a.m. and the results would be known by at 9. 30 a.m.

Following this, counting in segments such as Thirubhuvanai, Villianur, Indira Nagar, Muthialpet, Kalapet, Orleanpet, Ariankuppam and Nettapakkam would be taken up.

The segments which would be taken up then include Ossudu, Ozhukarai, Thattanchavady, Raj Bhavan, Mudaliarpet, Manaveli and Bahour, he said, adding that the results of all 30 constituencies would be known by 12 p.m.

Security had been strengthened at Bharathidasan Government College for Women at Puducherry, where counting for all 23 constituencies in the region would be held.
