Demand government’s help in safely discharging effluents
ERODE: Members of the Erode Mavatta Siru Thozhilgal Urimaiyalargal Thozhilalargal Nala Sangham went on a fast on Wednesday demanding the State Government’s help in safely discharging effluents.
They wanted the Government to set up a common effluent treatment plant for them to use it and safely discharge effluents.
The members said that the Government could recover the cost by charging them a maintenance fee based on the quantity of effluents discharged.
They also sought a separate welfare board for workers in dyeing and other textile processing industries, relaxation of norms to allow small and tiny industries to continue functioning in residential areas, among other things.
