No efforts made to properly dispose it of, say residents

SALEM: The unmindful dumping of construction debris on the roadsides in the city poses danger to the people especially vehicle users.

The increase in the construction activities has led to the generation of several tonnes of debris that is often dumped on the roadsides.

The Salem Corporation, which is supposed to take initiatives to prevent such dumping, continue to turn a blind eye towards the issue.

Though residents have taken this issue to the notice of senior officials on several occasions, no efforts have been made so far to properly dispose of the construction debris.

The debris is being dumped during night hours. Some times, the debris spills over the road making riding difficult for vehicle users.

“The Corporation is also not removing the debris,” the residents point out.

Appeal to Corporation

The road users have appealed to the Corporation to prevent the dumping of construction debris on the roadsides and in open places. Instructions should be given to the building owners to dispose of the debris properly, the residents demanded.
