: Honouring bus drivers attached to Pudukottai division of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and distribution of prizes to winners in competitions and blood donors formed part of the valediction of road safety week celebrations here recently.

C. Manoharan, Collector, gave away certificates to drivers for accident-free service for 15 years and appreciated their service.

He said drivers should be free from physical or mental strain while on duty. He explained various programmes organised in the district jointly by the education, Transport department and the transport corporation to sensitise the masses to the importance of road safety.

R. Tamil Chandran, Superintendent of Police, C. Muthumari, Revenue Divisional Officer, Anushan, Divisional Manager (Technical), Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation were present.

Students of Sudarshan Polytechnic College staged a play on the danger and risk caused by driving under the influence of alcohol.
