: Kumbakonam educational district level science drama competition organised as part of South Indian drama festival at Sri Saraswathi Patasala Girls Higher Secondary School, here recently evoked good response.
Teams from different schools presented plays on various scientific themes. L. Nirmala, District Education Officer, inaugurated the festival and S. R. Rani, headmistress of Sri Saraswathi Patasala Girls HSS in the chair. M. Selvasekaran, president, Individual Talent Training Centre, in his key note address said plays were a feast. The sculptures in the Big Temple reveal the number of plays enacted during the Chola period. ‘Manonmaniam’ by renowned Tamil scholar Sundaram Pillai is considered one of the best plays in Tamil. He congratulated the students for taking interest in science.
Sri Saraswathi Patasala Girls HSS won the competition. Regina Ceily HSS, Ammapet, finished runner up and the third place was shared by the Crescent Higher Secondary School, Avaniapuram and St. Joseph’s Girls HSS, Kumbakonam.
