Draft voters’ list released

Draft voters’ list for the six assembly constituencies in Krishnagiri and five assembly constituencies in Dharmapuri were released by the collectors T.P. Rajesh and K. Vivekanandan respectively on Tuesday.

According to a release from Department of Information and Public Relations in Krishnagiri, the number of total voters in the district has risen to 12,89,756 (6,60,963 male and 6,28,738 female and 55 transgender) from 12,86,278 after the summary revision of the list during January this year.

The total number of voters has gone up to 10,49,432 (5,39,410 male, 5,09,952 female and 70 transgender) as against 10,47,624 after the summary revision of the list during January this year.

After the summary revision of the voters’ list, the progress of enrolment was very low.

After releasing the draft voters’ list, Mr. Vivekanandan told the reporters that the revision of electoral rolls with January 1, 2014 as the qualifying age for the five assembly segments in the district would be held from October 1 to 31

Public should submit Form 6 for inclusion of names, Form 7 for deletion of names, Form 8 for effecting correction, and Form 8A for change of address in all the 728 polling booths in the concerned Assembly constituencies.

All these services can be availed from the 63 authorised private internet browsing centres across the district.

Special camps would be held for three Sundays on October 6, 20, and 27. Public could submit forms at the polling booths from October 1 to 31 or during the special camp between 9.30am and 5.30pm.

The draft voters’ list would be placed before the gram sabha meeting to be held on October 2 and 5 for the public view.

Mr. Vivekanandan appealed all the political parties to extend their fullest cooperation so that the efforts of the district administration to come out with flawless revised voters list is achieved.

K.P. Anbazhagan, District Secretary, AIADMK, K.P. Sakthivel, representative of DMK Youth Wing, K. Balakrishnan, District Secretary, Congress, S. Deverajan of CPI (M), P. Ramar, District Revenue Officer, P. Menaka, Revenue Divisional Officer among others participated.
