Draft photo electoral rolls for Perambalur and Ariyalur districts were released on Monday by their respective collectors.
Releasing the rolls for Perambalur district, Collector Darez Ahmed said after the special revision during the year and adding the applications received up to September 30 this year, the total number of voters in the district is 4,71,995 including 2,38,855 women and 17 transgender.
These rolls would be read out in the Gram Sabha meetings to be held on Tuesday where the public could confirm whether their names have been registered.
In addition, special camps would be conducted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 7, 14 and 21 (all Sundays) at schools in the respective villages for inclusion of new voters.
Ariyalur Collector P. Senthilkumar said the district had 4,53,008 voters in total (2,29,248 in Ariyalur Assembly Constituency and 2,23,760 in Jayankondam Assembly Constituency). Among the voters, 2,27,153 are women.
While these electoral rolls would be read out in the gram sabha meetings to be held on October 6 and 9, special camps would be conducted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 7, 14 and 21 for inclusion of voters who would turn 18 as on January 1, 2013.
Additional draft electorate roll with January 1, 2012 as the qualifying date for new voters was released here in the presence of political party representatives at the Collectorate on Monday.
The additional draft electorate list was drawn based on receipt of applications from January 6, 2012 up to September 30, 2012 for the six Assembly constituencies of Mayiladtuhurai-161, Poompuhar-163, Nagapattinam-163, Keezhvelur (Reseved)-164, and Vedaranyam-165
As per the revised electorate total, the district has an eligible female electorate of 5,50,799 voters and male electorate of 5,55,537, with the total electorate of 11,06,336 voters.
Releasing the draft electorate list, Collector T.Munusamy stated that eligible voters whose names were missed could have the names included starting from October 1, upto October 31, 2012. Further, special voter enlisting camps would be organised on October 7, October 14 and October 21.
The draft list has been pasted at the Collectorate, Taluk officers, BDO, Municipalities and all designated locations, an administration release said.
Asiya Mariam, District Revenue Officer; Soruparani, Tahsildar (Elections) were among those present on the occasion.
